Cascina San Maiolo has adhered since 1995 to the Guidelines for low environmental impact agriculture sustained by the EU through the Regulation 2078/92, and was one of the first rice producers to obtain the Global G.A.P. Certification. 3 marchi B
We can state that our rice is integrated management because fertilization and crop defense are enabled through:
• rotation of crops;
• monitoring of weeds by mechanical means and, only when necessary, by using herbicides which are selected within a short list of products and always used at the lowest dose;
• use of over 80% of organic fertilizer.
Also the ensuing stages are developed according to quality and sustainability. Our rice:
• is dried using renewable energy provided by solar panels installed in the very farm;
• is processed by using traditional methods, with no additives and immediately packed in order to preserve its flavour and fragrance;
• is vacuum-packed in order to guarantee its integrity and fragrance for 24 months;
• is labelled with recycled paper to fully respect the nature of the product.
